The story behind the tent
Though its history probably goes back even further, it is known that the Romans used camping tents during wars. Those tents were nothing like they are today; they consisted of a large cloth supported by frames. Often the frames were created on site. The tents provided protection from wind and rain while being easy to set up and transport.
During the seventies began a revolution of the tent and its materials and construction. The older frames were changed into being made out of metals such as steel and aluminum. Also changes were being made to the cover of the tent. The manufacturers started using nylon and polyester instead of the old natural materials. Nylon and polyester are much more resistant to wind and rain than regular cloth.
After this, improvements to the frames were made. Todays tents are easy to set up thanks to frames with parts that easily snap together. Pegs are also a fairly new invention, and are used to keep the cover and frame firmly attached to the ground.
Now that you've set up your tent you can shine amongst your fellow campers with telling about the history of the tent.
